GetReal Security Raises $17.5 Million to Tackle Gen-AI Threats

GetReal Security has raised $17.5 million in series A funding to combat deepfakes, impersonation, and other AI-generated threats.

Cybersecurity startup GetReal Security on Wednesday announced raising $17.5 million in Series A funding, less than a year after emerging from stealth mode.

The investment round was led by Forgepoint Capital, with additional support from Ballistic Ventures, Capital One Ventures, Cisco Investments, Evolution Equity, K2 Access Fund, and In-Q-Tel (IQT).

Incubated for two years by Ballistic Ventures and UC Berkeley Professor Hany Farid, the startup specializes in identifying and addressing deepfakes, impersonation, and other AI-generated threats.

Through a unified platform, GetReal Security provides organizations with access to risk management and threat mitigation solutions fueled by advanced image, audio, and video content verification across multiple communication streams.

Additionally, it provides training for security teams, policy development assistance, and solution deployment. It can also help organizations deal with complex incidents through a newly launched incident response service that includes advanced forensic analysis.

GetReal Security says its products have been adopted by financial institutions, government organizations, multinational corporations, and media and social media companies.

The startup will invest the new funds in R&D, product development, and go-to-market strategies.

“We’ve reached a pivotal moment. AI-generated content is on the verge of dominating the digital landscape and bad actors are already exploiting these advancements. The need for solutions that can quickly and accurately verify and authenticate digital media has never been more critical,” GetReal Labs co-founder and interim CEO Ted Schlein said.
